Always an item in the Hollywood gossip columns of Louella Parsons and Sheilah Graham, Sy Milano was at the top of his game singing at Ciro’s in Hollywood when he was signed to Warner Brothers Pictures and featured in “She’s Back on Broadway,” starring Virginia Mayo. Making a big hit, he appeared in another film, “The Iron Mistress” where he was noticed by Bob Hope and began touring with Hope
in his travels.
Then on to television. When Eddie Cantor heard him sing on the Ed Sullivan Show, he had to have him on his own television show, featuring him many times in the Colgate Comedy Hour. From there he began to make appearances on the prestigious Longines Wittnauer Hour.
On the road, Sy Milano was featured at the Dunes in Las Vegas and the Riverside in Reno, Nevada. With a hop across the border to Lake Tahoe, he began to appear at the Calvega, so named because it was just across the border from Las Vegas.
On to New York City where he was featured at the world famous Latin Quarter. Soon he gained the notice of the luxurious Homeric Line on which he serenaded the passengers with his romantic style filled with gaiety and romance.
Then onto the Latin Quarter in Boston and Blinstrubs in South Boston. While in Boston, Sy Milano, being an avid horseman, fell in love with the North Shore. When he was offered the position of being the star and the general entertainment coordinator of the Colonial Hilton Chain of Hotels, he made the North Shore his home where he could also enjoy his equestrian pursuits with great joy.
Today Sy Milano lives in North Carolina where he still hypnotizes audiences with his romantic renderings.
He takes the listeners back through the years as he journeys through the territory of memory and imagination with the lyrics and the music of our lives. His recent CD, “My September Years,” is the culmination of the many years of his great pleasure singing to the audience he loves. Never has his voice sounded clearer and more expressive than now…Sy Milano in his September years.
